What's going on {insert your name here} we’re Briony and Damo (The Barefoot Travellers). Just over a year ago, we started making an income online. And in that time? We’ve rewritten our entire story.

We’ve been handed opportunities we didn’t even know existed. We’ve been in rooms with industry leaders we used to only listen to on Spotify and it all started because we were done living a life controlled by others.

At first, we just wanted a bit of extra cash on the side. But it turned into something way bigger.

The freedom to be more present with each other. The time to finally start planning the trip around Australia we’ve talked about for years. The ability to choose how we live, without a boss deciding when we could take a break or what we’re allowed to do with our time.

Before this, I was a shift worker, always putting everyone else first. My health? On the backburner. My life? Ruled by a roster.
Damo was a sparky, 10-hour days, 6 days a week, chasing the same dream everyone’s told to want: buy a house, take one holiday a year, maybe retire by 60 if you’re lucky.

But one day we looked around and realised that the people living that “safe” life? They weren’t living in a way that inspired us to stay. So we did what no one else in our family had done before. We chose different. People told us we were crazy. “You’ve got good jobs, just be grateful.” “You really think you’ll make money online?” We blocked out the nose, because no one living a life they regret ever gave advice we wanted to follow.

Now? Briony’s planning her exit from shift work after 9 years. Damo’s on his way out of the trenches and finally finding his love for his work again. We’re moving states. We’re finally mapping out that dream lap of Australia. We’re creating that life that only ever seemed possible in our dreams.

Moral of the story?
Stop listening to the ones sitting on the sidelines.
No one became a pro footy player by criticising plays from the couch.

If you want something different, you’ve gotta move different.

Because nothing changes if nothing changes.
